The Talk for Writing approach
Talk for Writing is a proven, phased approach that moves pupils from oral retelling to independent transcription. One of our core principles is that every child can succeed as a writer.
Our pathway to success follows a three-step journey:
Imitation
Children learn a text through story maps, oral rehearsal and repetition, building vocabulary and understanding before writing. They imaginatively respond to the text and deepen understanding through reading.
Innovation
Through shared and guided writing, pupils plan, creatively draft and edit their stories, poems and non-fiction texts.
Independent Application
Children plan and write their own pieces, applying what they have learned with increasing independence.

We are able to achieve this performance, despite having significantly higher numbers of EAL and Pupil Premium pupils
